Specialized Programs
Dr. Bresler is
the board-certified acupuncturist and health
psychologist best known for creating and directing the
UCLA Pain Control Unit in the 1970's while a professor
in the Dept of Anesthesiology. His was the first major
US medical school team to conduct research on
acupuncture, guided imagery, hypnosis, biofeedback,
EMDR, and other complementary and alternative mind/body
medicine approaches.
He has particular expertise in helping people with chronic pain, trauma victims (esp. those with PTSD), highly anxious or depressed clients, people dealing with alcohol and drug dependence (esp. smokers, alcohol and enarcotic abusers), and in helping families and interpersonal relationships which have been affected by trauma, mood disorders, addictions, or health crises.
He sees private patients on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and conducts research and teaches on the other days. He is also available for telephone consultations or teletherapy sessions via Skype or iChat. Call the Bresler Center office for information.
Dr. Bresler does not accept Medicare or any insurance assignments (only credit cards, checks, or cash at the time of service), nor does it bill insurance companies. You will be given a "Superbill" at the time of payment that can be submitted to your insurance company if they provide reimbursement. Check with them for that information.) Dr. Bresler charges $350 for a new patient eval (60 minutes) and does have a reduced fee schedule for those in need who he feels he can help.
